Last updated 15 August 2026

This explains exactly what Lounje stores about you, why, and who else sees it. We collect what the meal planner needs to work — nothing beyond that, and we do not sell your data.

1. What we collect

From Google, when you sign in:

  • your name and email address
  • your profile photo, if your Google account has one
  • a Google account identifier, so we can recognise you next time

We never receive your Google password.

What you tell Lounje:

  • your food preferences — meal types, food styles and the traditions you want more of
  • your saved menu — the meals chosen for each day of the current week, and any swaps
  • ingredients you type into “Ask” when you want a match from what is in your kitchen

What the service records automatically:

  • when you last signed in and last used Lounje, and how many times you have signed in
  • your subscription status and when it renews
  • payment records — amount, date, status and reference — for the payments you make

2. What we do not collect

Card details never reach Lounje. Payment is handled on Flutterwave's own checkout. We store only the outcome of a payment, never the card number, expiry or CVV.

The ingredients you type into “Ask” are matched against our own recipe library on our server. They are not sent to any third-party or AI service.

3. Why we use it

  • To run the planner — choosing meals that fit your preferences and remembering your week
  • To manage your account — signing you in and keeping your subscription current
  • To take payment — starting checkout and recording the result
  • To support you — answering questions when you contact us
  • To keep Lounje working — diagnosing faults and preventing abuse

4. Cookies

Lounje sets one essential cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is http-only, sent only over HTTPS in production, and it expires when your session ends or you sign out. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

5. Who else sees your data

We share only what each provider needs to do its job:

  • Google — sign-in and identity verification
  • Flutterwave — payment processing and subscription billing
  • Our hosting and database providers — running the app and storing your account
  • Our image provider — delivering recipe photography

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, preferences and saved menus. Payment and transaction records are kept longer where accounting and tax law requires it.

7. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you can ask us to:

  • show you a copy of the data we hold about you
  • correct anything inaccurate
  • delete your account and its data
  • stop processing your data in certain circumstances

Contact us with any of these and we will respond within 30 days. You can withdraw consent at any time by closing your account.

8. Security

Sign-in runs through Google, sessions use http-only cookies over HTTPS, and access to the database is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.

9. Children

Lounje is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change matters to you, tell you directly.

11. Contact

Questions, or want your data removed? Message us on WhatsApp (0801 234 5678) or email support@lounje.ng.
